Training Plans for the Valencia Marathon

Training Plans for the Valencia Marathon

If you’re already signed up for the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich, you have the chance to access a fully personalized training plan. These plans, developed by renowned coach José Garay from CA Cárnicas Serrano and sponsored by New Balance, are designed to guide you every step of the way and help you reach your goal on race day. Below, we detail everything you need to know about how the plans work and how to get yours.

Training plans by target times

The Valencia Marathon offers specific training plans based on your target time. These plans are designed for runners aiming to finish the race in under 3h00, 3h15, 3h30, 3h45, 4h00, 4h15, 4h30, or even just to finish in up to 5h00.

The training plans span 16 weeks leading up to the marathon, starting on August 12. Each runner who registers will receive a detailed weekly training plan in their email inbox, covering the next seven days, along with videos and additional advice to support their progress.

Coach José Garay, who has been assisting runners for years in their marathon preparations, explains that this year’s plans include a personalized structure tailored to each runner’s level. He emphasizes the importance of selecting the plan that best suits each runner’s capabilities and realistic goals.

For those who are also registered for the Valencia Half Marathon, preparation for this event is included within the marathon training plan, allowing runners to use the October 27 half marathon as part of their strategy.

How to request your training plan

Getting access to these plans is a simple and free process for registered participants. All you need to do is request your plan through the official Valencia Marathon website. Once you fill out the form, your registration details, including race number, email, and DNI/NIE, will be verified to confirm your participation in the 2024 edition.

After submitting your request, you’ll start receiving your plan from August 12. Additionally, a private area on the website will be available for you to track your weekly progress. Although the plans are sent out every Sunday, you’ll have the flexibility to check them on the website at any time.

Weekly advice and extra content

In addition to the training plan, every week you’ll receive extra content designed to enhance your performance and optimize your preparation. This material includes videos with practical tips on how to approach your workouts, stretching routines, nutrition advice, and recommendations on sports gear. New Balance, as the event’s sponsor, will also offer suggestions on the best equipment to help you perform your best on race day.

The idea is to accompany you every step of the way, from the beginning of your preparation until you cross the finish line. This guidance will not only equip you with the tools to improve your performance, but also help you enjoy the process and stay motivated throughout the training period.

Plans also available for the Valencia Half Marathon

If you’re signed up for the Valencia Half Marathon, you also have the option to follow these personalized training plans. In this case, the periodization is 11 weeks, specifically tailored to the 21K distance. The plans are designed with the same care and detail as the full marathon plans, ensuring you arrive in the best possible shape for race day.

Runners who wish to participate in both races, the marathon and the half marathon, should choose the marathon plan, which already includes preparation for the 21K. This ensures your training is well-coordinated and strategically aligned for both distances.

With this initiative, the Valencia Marathon Trinidad Alfonso Zurich continues to establish itself as one of the top races on the international calendar. No matter your level, these plans are designed to help you achieve your goals, whether you’re aiming for a personal best or just want to finish the race.
