Valencia reclaims Spain’s top road races

The awards announced ahead of the Gala del Atletismo Español in Oviedo confirm that Valencia will again dominate Spain’s road running scene. On Saturday 18 April 2026 the Real Federación Española de Atletismo will honor the city as the organizer of the year, recognizing a repeated sweep: Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich, the Medio Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich and the 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun have been named the best races in their categories for 2025. The decisions reflect record participation, elite performances and community impact across events staged in the Turia capital over the past season. Organizers, elite athletes and local stakeholders are expected at the Auditorio Príncipe Felipe to receive the awards and underscore Valencia’s consolidation as a national and international road-running hub.

Marathon and half marathon set new benchmarks

The Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich led the sweep after a record edition that exceeded 30,000 finishers, with 30,777 runners crossing the line. The event, managed by Sociedad Deportiva Correcaminos, combined mass participation with social and environmental commitments, reporting around €92,000 raised for charity and more than 160 points of public animation along the course. The Medio Maratón Valencia Trinidad Alfonso Zurich also registered historic figures: 26,077 finishers in its 34th edition and a dense elite field that produced numerous sub-1:30 and world-class times, reinforcing Valencia’s reputation as a fast, competitive circuit.
