Start Boxes and Wave Changes
The Valencia Marathon organizes participants into start boxes based on their certified marathon, half marathon, 15K, or 10K times from the last three years. Your start box determines your wave, which will be emailed to you before the race and printed on your race bib.
You can change your start box for free until November 4th, as long as you can prove an improved time. This can be done through the race’s registration management section on the marathon website. From November 5th to November 24th, you can still request changes by paying €25 to cover reprinting and administrative fees.
It’s crucial to accept the responsibility for your start time when you register, as this ensures a smooth distribution of runners and prevents bottlenecks on the course.
How to Get to the Valencia Marathon Start

The maximum time to complete the Valencia Marathon is 5h30:00. Any runners who fail to reach kilometer 25 by 12:45 pm will be removed from the race and will need to hand over their bib or take the sweep vehicle. The organization is strict on this to ensure the safety of participants and stick to the schedule for reopening the streets.
Additionally, if you registered with the goal of finishing under 3h12:00, you are required to provide official proof of your time from a certified race. Failing to do so could result in your reassignment to a different start wave.
